Synopsys' DFT Compiler Receives Best in Test Award From Test & Measurement World Magazine

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2001-- Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), the technology leader for complex IC design, today announced that the company's DFT Compiler product has been selected by editors at Test & Measurement World Magazine to receive the publication's ``Best in Test'' Award for 2001. The Best in Test Awards are presented annually by Test & Measurement World editors to honor important and innovative new products in the electronics test and measurement industry. DFT Compiler is the second test product from Synopsys to receive this award. Last year, the company's TetraMAX(TM) ATPG solution won a Best in Test Award for 2000.

According to Roy W. Forsberg, VP/Publisher of Test & Measurement World magazine, ``Once again Synopsys has provided the electronics test industry with an innovative product that helps design engineers overcome their test challenges in the early stages of the IC design process. We encourage the company to keep up the good work and are pleased to include the DFT Compiler as a 2001 Best in Test Product.''

``We are very happy to be recognized yet again for our work in the design-for-test arena,'' said Bijan Kiani, vice president of marketing for Synopsys' Nanometer Analysis and Test Business Unit. ``We believe this award also reflects the importance of DFT as a key element for the successful design of next generation ICs. As semiconductor devices become more complex and expensive to build and manufacture, it will be much more cost-effective to design test into the front end of the design cycle rather than at the back end where finding design flaws can consume expensive tester time.''

Synopsys' Versatile Test Solutions

Synopsys, the leading supplier of IC test automation solutions, offers a complete line of integrated products and services that enable IC design teams to meet their most demanding manufacturing test requirements.

The company's award winning design for test offering includes DFT Compiler and the advanced TetraMAX ATPG tools. DFT Compiler incorporates the latest generation of Synopsys' patented 1-Pass test synthesis technology. It enables design teams to efficiently meet their DFT closure goals within Synopsys' industry-leading synthesis design environment. TetraMAX complements scan-based test methodologies by providing industry-leading ATPG performance, improved vector compaction, higher fault coverage and larger design capacity over prior ATPG products.

Additionally, to support increasingly complex board-level testing requirements, Synopsys' BSD Compiler offers integrated boundary scan synthesis, IEEE 1149.1 compliance checking and boundary scan pattern generation. Complementing these products, Synopsys offers comprehensive test services delivered by a world-class team of DFT experts.
